Addis Ababa, December 11, 2024 (FMC) – Ethiopia and Turkmenistan are set to enhance their bilateral relations through high-level political consultations, including the establishment of a Turkmen embassy in Addis Ababa. This pivotal agreement emerged from a meeting between Ethiopian Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Jemal Beker Abdula, and Turkmen Deputy Foreign Minister Serdar Muhammetdurdyyev.
The discussions encompassed a thorough review of the bilateral relationship, covering various cooperation areas. Ambassador Abdula informed the Turkmen delegation about Ethiopia’s significant foreign policy reforms aimed at fostering partnerships, along with comprehensive economic, social, and legal initiatives designed to improve productivity and attract foreign investment.
He emphasized Ethiopia’s commitment to regional integration, highlighting projects like the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam and the Green Legacy Initiative, both reflecting Ethiopia’s dedication to environmental sustainability and food security.
Both officials expressed interest in exchanging high-level delegations to further strengthen ties, with Turkmenistan’s Deputy Minister praising Ethiopia’s sustained economic growth under Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s leadership.
