Addis Ababa, November 26, 2020 (FBC) – Turkish Ambassador to Ethiopia and permanent representative to the African Union, Yaprak Alp said that her country is in support of Ethiopia’s endeavors to maintain peace, development and safeguard its sovereignty.
A Turkish delegation led by Ambassador Yaprak Alp held discussions with foreign relations and peace affairs standing committee of the FDRE House of Peoples Representatives on latest developments in Ethiopia and ways to cementing ties between two countries.
Ambassador Yaprak Alp said that the exemplary relationship between Ethiopia and Turkey traces back to 1880 expressing firm wishes for Ethiopia to maintain unwavering peace, sustainable development and full national integrity and sovereignty.
Saying that Ethiopia is the chosen destination for Ethiopia in many aspects, Ambassador Yaprak Alp noted that the investment link between the two countries has been witnessing great improvements over the years.
Turkey is keen to strengthen its cooperation with Ethiopia in Educational and cultural spheres, the ambassador said, adding that her country has a plan to build Turkish Cultural Center in the country.
Recalling that Turkey has invited the Ethiopian parliament for a work visit, she added that such a partnership between the two countries will be elevated to higher position for multifaceted mutual benefit.
Currently, Turkey has around 200 companies in Ethiopia which facilitated job opportunities for 25,000 people, and trade exchange volume between the two countries increased to 700 Million US Dollars, according to the ambassador.
Chairman of the Foreign Relations and Peace Affairs Standing Committee of the House of Peoples Representatives, Dr. Negeri Lencho, to his part the relationship between Ethiopia and Turky is experiencing fruitfulness and becoming exemplary for others expressing gratitude to the government of Turkey for facilitating free scholarship more than hundred students annually.
