MOSCOW, September 4 (Sputnik) – Over half a million people in the Philippines have been affected by tropical cyclones Haikui and Saola that swept across the Pacific islands of Luzon and Visayas, the national disaster authority said Monday.
Of the 514,153 individuals affected, more than 13,000 have remained displaced as of this week, according to a disaster bulletin published by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
The preliminary death toll stands at two, with at least one person believed to be missing and another one injured.
The typhoons grounded several flights scheduled to fly to and from the Philippine capital of Manila on Monday morning, the Manila International Airport Authority said. School classes were suspended in several provinces.
