Addis Ababa, November 11, 2024 (FBC) – Representatives of travel and cargo agents in Singapore praised Ethiopian Airlines’ rapid growth and its potential to enhance connections between Africa and Singapore.
Ethiopian Airlines’ recent Award Appreciation Night in Singapore brought together key partners including passengers, travel and cargo agents who expressed their gratitude and highlighted the airline’s significant contributions to the aviation and tourism sectors.
Among those recognized were representatives from top agents like Energia, Singapore Post Ltd, Airserve Group, Citystate Travel, and Air Freight Singapore, all of whom praised Ethiopian Airlines’ outstanding service and connectivity.
Albert Ho, Executive Director of Citystate Travel, reflected on Ethiopian Airlines’ growth over the years.
“Tonight has been truly amazing. I remember attending Ethiopian Airlines’ event in Singapore last year, which was more modest and simple, which was understandable at the time. But tonight’s event really shows how Ethiopian Airlines has grown and become successful and progressive.”
He reiterated that Ethiopian Airlines, along with tourism partners, should continue to engage the Singapore community.
“Currently, most of the passengers are business travelers, but after tonight’s presentation showcasing Ethiopia’s many attractions, especially its natural landscapes, I believe there is great potential to attract leisure tourists as well.”
He noted that the Ethiopian team in Singapore has been working incredibly hard and is very active in the market, engaging with travel agents, as reported by ENA.
“I think it would be beneficial for Ethiopian Airlines to organize familiarization trips to Ethiopia. This will allow us to better understand the country and its attractions, enabling us to promote it more effectively.”
Director of Air Freight Singapore, Caryl Phan commended the airline’s rapid growth and the potential it holds for expanding connections between Africa and Singapore.
“I manage all operations in Singapore, and I would like to sincerely thank Ethiopian Airlines for inviting me to this unique event. The video showcasing Ethiopia was absolutely beautiful, and I look forward to visiting the country someday.”
The Ethiopian Airlines is one of the largest African carriers and is growing rapidly, she said, adding here in Singapore, we are already seeing an increasing demand for the cargo space offered by the Airlines.
As Ethiopian Airlines continues to enhance its services and network, Phan hopes it will help bring African culture closer to Singapore, fostering greater cultural exchange and awareness.
Chloe Lim, Commercial Manager for Airserve Group on her part praised the airline’s impact on passenger capacity.
“We are truly grateful for this award. We didn’t expect to be among the top 10 passenger agents, so this recognition is a wonderful surprise.”
Moreover, she added that the new Airbus A350-1000, that the Ethiopian Airlines has recently received for Airbus, will significantly increase capacity, allowing us to move more people to Africa for various projects and improve travel to Ethiopia and the broader continent.
Vicnesh Nagarajan, Manager at Singapore Post Ltd, also expressed his pride in receiving the award, emphasizing the airline’s vital role in connecting Africa with Asia.
“It’s a great honor for us to be recognized at Ethiopian Airlines’ Appreciation Night. Ethiopian Airlines offers extensive connectivity across Africa, which is invaluable for our e-commerce business. The airline has tremendous potential, and we look forward for further collaboration,” he elaborated.
Manager of Energia Global Travel Manager, Wendy Fam shared her appreciation for Ethiopian Airlines’ continued support.
“We are very happy to receive this award. The support we have received, especially during flight has been outstanding. Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive network has been a key factor in helping us manage and achieve this recognition. Their connectivity has been crucial in ensuring we can bring clients to their destinations, especially in challenging situations.”
Regional Manager of Ethiopian Airlines for Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand Telila Deressa on his part emphasized that these agents have played a significant role in advancing travel, cargo services, tourism, and socio-economic activities by streamlining travel arrangements.
Moreover, he added that the Singapore route turned out to be very profitable, and one of the best routes in Asia.
“This could never happen without our partner support as we celebrate our own success, we have to also appreciate those who support us,” Telila stated.
Moreover, he added that Ethiopian Airlines is instrumental in fostering economic ties, trade, and cultural exchanges between Africa and Asia through its operations in Singapore.
