Addis Ababa, October 30, 2023 (FBC) – The transportation of soil fertilizer for the 2016/17 E.C “bega” (Ethiopia’s dry season) cultivation season has begun, the Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics (ESL) said.
It was stated that the first ship loaded with soil fertilizer for the upcoming cultivation season docked at the Port of Djibouti last night.
It is said that the ship, Omorfi Majuro, loaded the first 51 thousand 420 metric tons of urea soil fertilizer for the 2016/17 E.C crops cultivation season from the port of Adabiya, Egypt, and entered SDTV (Société Djiboutienne Terminal Vracier) port, Djibouti, last night.
ESL also revealed that the transportation of the soil fertilizer into Ethiopia will also start today.
Recall that the Ministry of Agriculture stated on October 5, 2023 that it is planned to purchase 23 million quintals of soil fertilizer for the 2016/17 E.C crop cultivation season. The Ministry also indicated the purchase of 13 million quintals including NPS soil fertilizer.
