TPLF’s renewed invasion in Kilbeti Resu Zone, Afar Region displaces over 300,000 people

Addis Ababa, February 13, 2022 (FBC) – The Afar Region Disaster Prevention and Food Security Program Office stated that the TPLF’s renewed invasion in Kilbeti Resu Zone displaced more than 300,000 people.

In an exclusive interview with FBC, the Office Head, Mohammed Hussein said the terrorist TPLF has invaded Ab’ala, Konaba, Iripti, Megale and parts of Dalo and Berhale districts and forced hundreds of thousands of innocent people to flee their homes.

The terrorist group is now attacking innocent civilians with heavy artilleries from highest places it has occupied in the region, he said, adding that the humanitarian situation is deteriorating as many are fleeing in all directions.

Office is trying to deliver emergency humanitarian aid to people sheltered in 14 temporary camps, Mohammed said, adding that there are still many people scattered to various unidentified places without any accommodation of food and shelter.

Mohammed called on the international community to respond to the catastrophic humanitarian situation that has been inflicted by TPLF in the region.

He also called on the government to support the Afar people in the struggle against the invader TPLF and ensure peace and stability in the region.

The TPLF has so far massacred hundreds of innocent people, looted and destroyed various institutions including hospitals and health care centers in the Afar Region.
