“Ethiopia has dealt with three wars in the past 30 years due to perpetrations of the TPLF terrorist organization” Billene said.

The Press Secretariat noted that the war waged by the TPLF is against the nation right now is contained to the northern part of the country although the group had escalated it into the Afar and Amhara regions, which are also in the northern part of the country.

“Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has been working to protect the people of Ethiopia from this overt threat that the TPLF has posed on the people of Ethiopia for the past three years, and also over the past 27 years during which it was ruling the country” she underlined.

“Over the past year until the unilateral ceasefire and the National Defense Forces withdrew from the Tigray region, the government has been providing up to 70pct of the humanitarian assistance to the people in need in northern part of the country”

“Since the national defense forces withdrew from Tigray, there hasn’t been any presence of National Defense Forces or any conflict within the Tigray region; for the conflict spilled over into the Amhara and Afar regions through the active belligerence of the TPLF. “With regard to humanitarian assistance, the TPLF has been a sore obstacle” she said.

“They politicized the humanitarian issues just to garner sympathy from the international community”

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has got a track record of achieving peace and bringing harmony among the communities, Billine articulated.

The Premier is committed to peace, but he also has a responsibility as the Commander in Chief of the National Defence Forces, as well as the prime minister of Ethiopia to ensure that state order is maintained, she added.
