Addis Ababa, November 12, 2021 (FBC) – Contacted by Kungu Al-mahadi Adam, for Ugandan Ambassador to Ethiopia, Edith Ssempala said TPLF has no legitimate cause; they are war mongers whose only desire is to regain power.
“Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed came through elections, made peace with Eritrea, released political prisoners and effected reforms. Why fight such a leader?” She paraphrased.
“I think Ethiopia is blessed to have Abiy Ahmed as their leader. I don’t know him personally, but what he has done in this short time, shows that he prioritizes peaceful resolution of conflicts, he is not confrontational” She said.
Regarding the media campaign against Ethiopia by international media, she underlined that twisting of facts by the western media on the Tigray conflict should awaken Journalists in Africa to learn to tell their own story. “What is important is for Africans to rise and defend their own.”
They ought not to rely of foreign media for their reports but instead seek their own facts, Edith Ssempala underscored.
Concerning the Grand Ehtiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), it is wrong for Egypt to think that it must be the lone beneficiary of the Nile waters, she noted, adding that the rest of Nile Valley countries should rely on its mercy for their developmental projects on the Nile.
