MOSCOW, July 5 (Sputnik) – Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto on Friday expressed hope that the visit of the Hungarian delegation to Moscow could contribute to peace in Ukraine.
Earlier in the day, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban arrived in Moscow with his delegation, which includes Szijjarto, and is currently holding talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Orban described his visit to the Russian capital as a continuation of his “peace mission” after a visit to Kiev, which took place on Tuesday.
“The past two and a half years have proven that the war going on in our neighborhood has no solution on the battlefield. A ceasefire and peace talks are needed as soon as possible to put an end to the human suffering. We hope that today’s meeting in Moscow can bring peace closer,” Szijjarto said on social media.
Hungary has repeatedly spoken out about the need for a peaceful settlement of the Ukraine conflict and warned Europe not to interfere.
