Tigrayan youths, intelligential vow to cement peace accord, support dev’t endeavors in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, December 20, 2022 (FBC) – Intelligential and youths of Tigray region affirmed readiness to assume national responsibilities to cement the peace agreement and achieve the development endeavors in Ethiopia.

Intelligential and youth from the Tigray region held a conference on the process of reforms in Ethiopia, the implementation of the peace agreement, the rebuilding of the region and their role in ensuring the country’s development.

During the discussion, the government’s activities in the national transformation and its determination in implementing the peace agreement were presented by Tesfaye Beljige, Chief Government Whip, and Zadig Abreha, the Minister in charge of Democratization.

The officials mentioned that the government is carrying out reform activities to eradicate Ethiopia’s political, economic and social problems from their roots.

However, they mentioned that the reform process was hit by a snag of internal and external challenges. The officials recalled that the conflict in northern Ethiopia was one of them.

The presenters recalled that the Ethiopian government has repeatedly demonstrated its commitment to peace before the conflict, further reminding that it demonstrated its priority commitment – peaceful resolution.

Zadig said that the government is currently implementing the peace agreement unconditionally, according to ENA’s report.

The participants of the discussion appreciated the government’s efforts to ensure development and lasting peace in the country, indicating that the peace agreement gave hope to the people of Tigray region.

They also stressed that the people of Tigray no longer have the shoulders to face any conflict. They underscored that the people of the region should stand by the government and be a watchdog for peace.

In this sense, they affirmed their readiness to fulfill their responsibilities in coordinating the natives of the region to cement the peace implementation process.
