Addis Ababa January 13, 2023 (FBC) – The religious fathers in Tigray region affirmed that they are rooting for lasting peace and are ready to discharge their responsibilities for sustainable peace in the region.
Fana Broadcasting Corporate correspondents visited Shiraro, Axum and Adwa towns of Tigray region and spoke to religious fathers of Christian and Muslim faith who urged their faithful to sustain peace.
The religious fathers also underscored that preaching peace is the doctrine and practice of their respective faith, adding that everyone should protect and take care of the peace achieved after the Pretoria and Nairobi peace accords.
The religious fathers assured that they will continue teaching unequivocal religious values to the faithful and discharge their responsibility to stop conflicts permanently to maintain peace.
They emphasized that the impact of the breach of peace on religious institutions and faithful should be prevented by predominantly working for peace.
The religious fathers indicated that the basic services restoration, peace and security, and humanitarian aid works that are being caring out following the peace agreement are promising undertakings.
They called on all stakeholders to continue the works that have been started and strengthened access in all areas.
Religious leaders should be independent from any political opinion and fulfil their paternal responsibility so that peace can be maintained and citizens can return to their normal lives, the religious fathers stressed.
They also mentioned that they are currently working to stabilize and inculcate the faithful.
