The 2nd Ethio-Israel Innovation Week underway in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, November 5, 2024 (FBC) – The second Ethiopia-Israel Innovation Week has commenced in Addis Ababa this morning with various events. The event is taking place in the Ethiopian capital for four days, according to the Ministry of Innovation & Technology of Ethiopia (MInT).

The event aims to strengthen innovation and cooperation between Ethiopia and Israel in the field of innovation and technology, as well as experience exchange.

It was indicated that an Israeli delegation of high-level experts in innovation, technology and entrepreneurship has arrived in Ethiopia on Monday for discussions with their counterparts and stakeholders from Government, the private sector, and international organizations.

In his opening remarks at the event, Ethiopia’s Minister of Innovation and Technology, Belete Molla asserted that his country is in a new era of innovation.

He said that Israel’s innovative model can be a benchmark for Ethiopia, stating that it is possible to create an environment where common ideas and startups can flourish, and technology can be a catalyst for economic development by establishing a cooperation framework.

On his part, Ambassador-Designate of Israel to Ethiopia, Avraham Neguise, said that he would share his country’s experience in establishing a successful and leading innovation and startup ecosystem with Ethiopia’s experts in the field.

He mentioned that Ethiopia is blessed with natural resources and human resources, adding that his country will support the efforts to utilize these resources for economic development by supporting technology and innovation in the East African nation, according to MInT.
