Addis Ababa, December 7, 2022 (FBC) – The 9th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa kicked off in Oran, Algeria under the theme “Support to the new African members of the UN Security Council in addressing peace and security issues in Africa.”
A delegation led by Ambassador Birtukan Ayano, State Minister of Foreign Affairs, is participating in the African High-Level Peace and Security Forum (December 07-09).
Speaking at the opening session, Ambassador Birtukan Ayano, praised African countries representing the continent at the UNSC for standing with Ethiopia during the conflict in northern part of the country.
“The countries stood by the side of justice and supported Ethiopia during the conflict in the North despite pressures against the ‘African solutions to African problems’ principle which gives durable solutions to continental challenges,” Ambassador Birtukan said.
Kenya, Ghana and Gabon are the current A3 countries at the UNSC, while Mozambique will replace Kenya as of January 2023.
