Addis Ababa, February 17, 2022 (FBC) – The 6th EU-AU Summit kicked off in Brussels, Belgium with opening remarks made by the President of European Council, Charles Michel.
In his opening remarks, President of the European Council Charles Michel said he has travelled to Africa several times and got a chance to witness what is happening in Africa in the overall social and economic activities.
He said that previous meetings held between the African Union and the European Union have served as an important milestone to strengthen between the two.
The Chairperson also stressed need to enhance ties between the Union and the African Union with a view to support efforts underway to maintain peace and stability and bolster economic integration between the Union and the Africa continent and create a new paradigm.
Chairperson of the Africa Union and President of Senegal Macky Sall has also addressed the summit with remarks that highlights areas of priorities of the African Union.
Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed is in attendance of the 6th EU-AU Summit. The Premier has so far discussed with several officials of the EU on ways of bolstering cooperation between Ethiopia and EU.
