Addis Ababa, January 3, 2022 (FBC) – Sudan’s military will reportedly nominate former Finance Minister Ibrahim Elbadawi as prime minister to succeed Abdalla Hamdok, according to the Qatari newspaper Al-Sharq.
Abdalla Hamdok said on Sunday he was resigning, six weeks after returning to his post in a deal with military coup leaders he argued could save a transition toward democracy.
Ousted and placed under house arrest by the military during a coup on Oct. 25, Abdalla Hamdok was reinstated in November.
