Addis Ababa, August 18, 2023 (FBC) – Last season’s Ethiopian Premier League champions St. George Football Club will face KMKM Football Club of Zanzibar later today in the 2023/24 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League first preliminary qualifying match.
The match between the two clubs will be played this afternoon at 4:00 pm at the Chamanzi Azam Complex Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Saint George SA, led by their head coach Zerihun Shengeta, undertaken their last training yesterday ahead of today’s match at the Chamanzi Azam Complex Stadium.
St. George SA, also known as “The Horsemen”, have been preparing for the game since August 1, 2023 at Yidnekachew Tesema Academy in Bishoftu and Abebe Keila Stadium in Addis Ababa, respectively.
Saint George SA is participating in the 2023/24 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League tournament after winning the 2022/23 Ethiopian Premier League title.
On the other hand, the 2022/23 Zanzibar Premier League winners KMKM FC have been preparing for the game in Tanzania.
It is learned that Kenyan referees will officiate the match between the two clubs.
The clubs will play their return match on August 27/2023 at Abebe Bikila Stadium, in Addis Ababa and the aggregate winner of this tie will face the 11-time CAF CL winners Al Ahly of Egypt in the next round.
