Addis Ababa, September 11, 2022 (FBC) – The reigning Ethiopian Premier League champions, St. George Football Club, defeated Sudan’s Al-Hilal 2-1 in the first leg preliminary qualifying round match of the 2022/23 CAF Champions League.
St. George FC, also known as the Knights (the Horsemen), beaten Sudanese outfits, Al-Hilal, at the Bahir Dar International Stadium, on Sunday afternoon, where forward Chernet Gugsa scored both goals for the Knights.
John Kamas Robia netted the consolation goal for the Sudanese club.
Saint George will play the second leg on September 18, 2022 at Al-Hilal Stadium, and if they retain this result on the second leg, they will play the winner of Tanzania’s Young Africans and South Sudan’s Zalan FC Rumbek in the next round.
