Spokesperson of Executive Secretary of IGAD echoes call for an African media house

Addis Ababa, February 6, 2022 (FBC) – In an exclusive interview with FBC, Spokesperson of Executive Secretary of the International Authority on Development (IGAD), Nuur Mohamud Sheekh echoed the call made by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed for an African media house that would help resonate voices of people of the continent at international stage.

He said that indegenous knowledge, culture and good values of the continent Africa have not yet been promoted due to lack of influential media dedicated to the causes of Africa.

Africa is always portrayed as a land where there is only poverty and conflict although it is a land of fortunes and future opportunities, he noted, calling for governments and continental organizations to collaborate for the realization of its own powerful media.

Nuur Mohamud also called for proper representation of Africa in the UN system, particularly in the Security Council.

The Spokesperson further appreciated greenery and beautification activities and development in Addis Ababa calling the city a vibrant seat of the African Union and other international organizations.
