Addis Ababa, June 16, 2022 (FBC) – In an exclusive interview with FBC, Under Secretary of the Ministry of Culture Museum and National heritage of South Sudan Kuac Wek Wol said his country is keen to enhancing cultural cooperate with Ethiopia.
Kuac Wek Wol said that Ministry of Culture Museum and National heritage of South Sudan South Sudan will be signing MoU with Culture and Sport Ministry of Ethiopia to further cement collaboration in the culture and art sectors.
Regarding the East Africa Art and Culture Festival which is taking place in Addis Ababa since Tuesday, the Under Secretary said the event has created a conducive platform for people of East Africans to share their cultural and artistic values and explore ways for further integration in socio-economic and political spheres.
“I have got an opportunity to visit cultural and historical artifacts and know more about the deep-rooted culture of hospitality among Ethiopians while attending the festival. Such tradition of shared festivals must be nurtured. Juba will host similar festival. It means Ethiopians can learn about South Sudan. This is the way how to integrate culturally.”
“Ethiopians and people of South Sudan share many things in common. We share similar history, language and cultures. We also share the Nile River. We are one people in two countries. All these create favorable condition for enhanced cooperation between our two countries,” he underlined.
“I am feeling at home. I get many people speaking my own language here in Addis Ababa because Ethiopia is home to all Africans. As a country with longstanding tradition in accommodating varied cultural and linguistic identities harmoniously, Ethiopia has a responsibility to bring all Africans together mutual benefits among peoples of the continent.”
