Addis Ababa, October 20, 2020 (FBC) –South Korea has donated half a million dollars worth of COVID-19 protective equipment to Ethiopia.
Deputy Minister for Multilateral and Global Affairs of Korea, Ham Sang-wook, today handed over the donation to Ethiopia’s Minister of Health, Dr. Lia Taddese.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lia thanked South Korea for such a generous donation.
She said the donation is critical in supporting Ethiopia’s efforts in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ham Sang-wook said his country is delighted to present the donation to Ethiopia.
He said his country is grateful to the Ethiopian troops who fought alongside Korea during the Korean War.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Birtukan Ayano, also thanked the people and Government of Korea for their continuous support to Ethiopia’s battle against the virus.
She said Korea has always been close to Ethiopia in supporting various development endeavors.
The State Minister also urged the Government of Korea to encourage Korean investors to invest more in Ethiopia.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the handover ceremony was attended by Oh Myung Don, Ambassador for Global Health Security, and Hoon Min Lim, Ambassador of Korea.
