Somali region chief discusses with USAID Africa’s Deputy Assistant Admin

Addis Ababa, November 18, 2022 (FBC) – The head of the Somali region, Mustafe Omer, held discussion with Tyler Beckelman, the Deputy Assistant Administrator of USAID’s Bureau for Africa.

Senior government officials of the region, US Ambassador to Ethiopia, Tracey Ann Jacobson, and USAID Ethiopia’s Executive Director Sean Jones attended the discussion.

In their discussions, they advised on ways to improve the lives of citizens by implementing a permanent solution to the frequent droughts in the region, according to the Somali region government communication service.

The head of the Somali region government, Mustafe Omer, said that the government has reached cooperation agreements with partners to deal with the drought in the region and to improve the lives of the community in a sustainable way through strengthening the assistance.

Ambassador Tracey Ann Jacobson, on her part, said that her government will continue to strengthen its participation and cooperation by providing humanitarian assistance in Ethiopia in general, and in the Somali region, in particular.
