Addis Ababa, September 29, 2022 (FBC) – Somali President Hassan Sheik Mohamud who is in Ethiopia for an official visit has toured the Headquarters of the Federal Police in the capital.
The President and his delegation have been accorded warm welcome by management of the Ethiopian Federal Police upon their arrival at the head office.
Delegation has visited technological capacities and the current status of the institution in the light of the reform tools it has implemented over the last years. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud appreciated the reform activities being carried out by the Ethiopian Police.
President Hassan Sheik Mohamud also held discussions with Ethiopian Federal Police Commissioner General Demelash Gebremichael on ways of enhancing cooperation among peer institutions of the two countries.
Two sides also reached an agreement to establish joint security task force to accelerate the fight against terrorism and related cross border crimes in border areas.
Commissioner General Demelash affirms commitment of Ethiopian Police University to enroll young Somali police officers as per the request put forth by the President. Hassan Sheik Mohamud also expressed interest of Somali Police to share experiences from its Ethiopian counterpart.
