Addis Ababa, September 9, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Japan, Dhaba Debele, met with Sojitz Corporation’s Southwest Asia, Middle East and Africa Assistant General Manager, Ogawa YASUYUKI, and the Corporation’s Food Processing Division Manager, Koichi SATO.
It is learned that up to 20% of Ethiopian coffee entering the Japanese market is imported by the Sojitz Corporation.
Ambassador Dhaba and Mr. Ogawa YASUYUKI discussed on ways to enhance the capacity of Corporation’s coffee import from Ethiopia. During their meeting, the Ambassador briefed the Sojitz Corporation Assistant GM of the investment potential and opportunities in Ethiopia. He invited the Corporation to engage in various sectors in Ethiopia besides to coffee sector.
Accordingly, the leadership of the Sojitz Corporation thanked the Ambassador for the briefing and expressed their desire to engage in investment opportunities in Ethiopia
It was stated that both sides will engage in further discussions regarding the possibilities of the corporation’s entry into Ethiopian investment.
Furthermore, Ambassador Dhaba Debele also held a discussion with the owner and director of SAZA Coffee Holdings, Taroh Suzuki. SAZA Coffee has been importing coffee from Ethiopia for a long time.
The ambassador thanked SAZA COFFEE for its contribution in promoting the excellence of Ethiopian Specialty Coffee in the Japanese market.
He called on the company to maintain its engagement in importing Ethiopian coffee.
