Addis Ababa, November 13, 2023 (FBC) – The Republic of Korea (ROK) has pledged to provide support to Ethiopia in the development of civilian nuclear power.
Ambassador Kang Seokhee, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ethiopia, made this commitment during a seminar held at the ROK Embassy in Addis Ababa.
The seminar was attended by officials from Addis Ababa Science and Technology University, Ministry of Innovation and Energy, Adama Science and Technology University, and Ministry of Education.
During the seminar, representatives from the universities highlighted the importance of focusing on the production of manpower and the need to collaborate with developed countries in establishing a nuclear science and technology center.
In response, Ambassador Kang Seokhee assured that the Republic of Korea would provide the necessary support to Ethiopia in its efforts to develop civil nuclear power, the Embassy informed FBC’s Melaku Gedif.
The support from the Republic of Korea will include assistance in human resources development, technology transfer, resource provision, and other related sectors. Additionally, the Ambassador emphasized that the Republic of Korea is willing to share its experience in the development of nuclear science and technology centers with Ethiopia.
It is known that Ethiopia is venturing to establish nuclear science and technology center in order to harness the benefits of nuclear power for peaceful purposes.
