Addis Ababa, September 19, 2020 (FBC) – Ministry of Health announced that risk of non communicable diseases has reached a peak posing greater risk to the community in the country.
Addressing the meeting convened to discuss ways of establishing control and prevention system, State Minister of the Ministry Dereje Duguma said non communicable diseases are posing pressure on the economy besides affecting the health conditions of the community.
Cardiovascular sicknesses, Cancer, Diabetes and are among the non communicable diseases which posed a greater risks in the community, according to the State Minister.
The number of deaths from non communicable diseases is surpassing fatalities cased by communicable diseases, Dr. Dereje noted.
According to the Health Ministry, 52 pct of the annual death rate in the country is related non communicable diseases.
