Representatives of Russian and Indonesian Foreign Ministries exchange views on BRICS cooperation

Moscow, February 7, 2025 (TV BRICS) – Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov paid a working visit to Indonesia on 6 February, where he held consultations with Director General for Multilateral Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, the country’s sherpa in BRICS Tri Tharyat. This is reported by the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The parties exchanged views on the interaction between the states in BRICS, noting the progress in the institutional development of the association and the implementation of a number of initiatives during Russia’s chairmanship in the group in 2024. The representative of the Indonesian Ministry also expressed gratitude for the assistance in the country’s accession to BRICS as a full member.

In addition, Ryabkov took part in a briefing for representatives of Indonesian government bodies, business, and expert community. At the event, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister spoke about the key mechanisms and areas of cooperation in BRICS.

It became known on 6 January this year that Indonesia had joined BRICS. The country submitted an official application during the Russian presidency, and it was approved by all members of the association.
