Addis Ababa, January 6, 2024 (FBC) – Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo Church, His Holiness Abune Matias, Secretary-General of the Ethiopian Evangelical Council, Rev. Dereje Jenberu, Archbishop of the Ethiopian Catholic Church, His Eminence Cardinal Birhaneyesus Surafel, President of Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekaneyesus, Rev. Yonas Yigezu and President of Evangelical Church Fellowship of Ethiopia, Pastor Tsadiku Abdo have extended their message on the eve of the Genna Holiday which marks the Nativity of Jesus Christ.
In their message, the religious leaders called on the faithful to help the poor and the needy who are vulnerable to various problems while celebrating the Genna holiday.
The Birth of Jesus Christ for the salvation of the world sets an example for love and humility, the religious fathers said, calling those who celebrate the Genna to maintain peace, unity, mutual respect and compassion during the holiday.
The religious leaders further called on the faithful as well as all stakeholders to seek peaceful solution for conflicts in various parts of the country.
