In her opening remarks at the African Economic Conference, President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Sahle-Work Zewde, called on African leaders to redouble efforts for a robust industrial sector that can withstand external shocks.
She also stressed that reliance on foreign manufacturers threatens Africa’s development.
“There is a need to change the narrative on Africa’s industrialization for inclusive and sustainable industrial development – No one should be left behind in the making and sharing of resources” the President stressed.
President Sahle-Work underscored that Africa must tackle climate change, political instability and conflict, which can be destructive for economic growth and human capital and threatens economic and social development.
