Addis Ababa, October 4, 2022 (FBC) – Harari Regional State has vowed continued legal measures to preserve and develop Harar Jugol world heritage site.
Regional state stated that directives are put in place to rescue the endangered residential houses, churches, mosques, museums and other historical, religious and ancient treasures located in the fortified town of Jugol.
According to the regional administration, activities such as unauthorized construction and renovation of houses, water drilling and car wash services have been well identified as dangerous acts, and legal measures are being taken to address the issues.
A task force entitled to oversee activities to preserve and develop the Harar Jugol, UNESCO inscribed world heritage has been undertaking tremendous activities to better protect and pass on to generations the historical site, it was learned.
