Regional administrations, gov’t officials extend Eid al-Mawlid greetings

Addis Ababa, October 8, 2022 (FBC) – All the regional administrations, Ministries, Cities administrations and senior government officials extended Eid Mawlid holiday greetings to the Muslim community.

The 1497^th Mawlid-un-Nabi holiday is being celebrated across all corners of Ethiopia with compassion and various religious ceremonies.

Marking the occasion senior government officials, regional and cities administrations extended their best wishes of the Holiday.

Minister of Culture and Sports, Kejela Merdasa, who attended the holiday at the Great Anwar Mosque, said that Prophet Muhammad was kind, compassionate and fought for human beings to live justly.

The Minister mentioned that the Prophet was more compassionate to animals and plants than humans, balanced judgments and strongly opposed to the abuse of humans.

He emphasized that the Holiday should be spent on humanitarian issues as the occasion is a festival where human beings are supported, the weak are visited, the sick are cared for, and love and compassion are shown.

He mentioned that Mawlid-un-Nabi is a national holiday, pointing out that it is necessary to work together so that our humanity-centered values can be maintained.

“When celebrating Mawlid-un-Nabi, I urge everyone to show compassion and empathy, support those who are in need of help, and pray for the ill to recover soon”, said Adanech Abiebie, Mayor of Addis Ababa.

“When we celebrate Mawlid-un-Nabi, we should show compassion to our people who have been displaced from their villages due to conflict, war and drought, and fulfill our spiritual responsibility to reveal religious teachings in our lives”, reads the holiday greeting from the Amhara region administration.

“I wish you a Happy Mawlid-un-Nabi holiday to all Muslims. May the holiday bring peace, health, happiness and unity”, says a Message from the head of Harari region administration.

Other regions, cities, government offices and officials have extended their best wishes of a compassionate Mawlid-un-Nabi holiday on their social media platform and mainstream media.
