Addis Ababa, February 13, 2023 (FBC) – Fruitful diplomatic activities have reinvigorated the Ethiopia-Sudan bilateral relations, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.
The Ministry recalled that Sudan showed solidarity with Ethiopia when the International Commission of Human Rights Experts on Ethiopia (ICHREE) issued highly politicized report on Ethiopia and during the UN Security Council meetings on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
This is a token of the recuperation of the diplomatic and bilateral relations of the two countries, the Ministry stated during its six months performance review meeting.
It was stated, during the meeting, that conducting visit schedules, joint commission meetings, and political consultations among leaders and foreign ministers are vital to further strengthen Ethiopia’s bilateral and diplomatic relations with neighbouring countries.
It was also stated that a bilateral agreement was reached with Sudan on certain issues regarding GERD.
The Ministry indicated that comprehensive diplomatic activities have been carried out to counter unjust efforts by other sides regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam and to thwart the efforts to withdraw the tripartite negotiations from the framework of the African Union.
