Pursuit of peace is etched into the very soul of Ethiopia and on her path to progress – Pres. Taye

Addis Ababa, March 20, 2025 (FMC) — The pursuit of peace is etched into the very soul of Ethiopia and on her path to progress, according to President Taye Atske-Selassie.

In his message published on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the East African nation’s head of state echoed Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s statement regarding Ethiopia’s unwavering stance for internal or regional peace.

Note that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed stated Ethiopia does not have any intention to go to conflict against its neighbors in its ‘legitimate’ and peaceful pursuit to gain access to the Red Sea.

Highlighting the federal government’s performance and other matters, PM Abiy said, “Ethiopia does not have any intention of engaging in conflict with Eritrea for the purpose of gaining access to the sea.”

“Our desire is to engage in dialogue and discussion on this matter instead. Access to the Red Sea is nevertheless an existential matter for Ethiopia. What we want is to peacefully address our current challenges,” Premier Abiy added.

In light of this, President Taye echoed PM Abiy’s statement of Ethiopia’s commitment to peace. “At today’s Parliamentary debate, PM Abiy refuted the ‘specter’ war with our neighbors, refuted those who phantom mayhem and destruction.”

President Taye said PM.Abiy Ahmed’s statement underscored Ethiopia’s aspirations for peace and development.
