President Taye emphasizes significance of reimagining of dev’t & security paradigms amid global power shifts

Addis Ababa, November 25, 2024 (FBC) – A continental conference on peace, prosperity, and development, themed “Building a Peaceful and Prosperous Africa,” is taking place in Addis Ababa.

Among high-ranking government officials at the occasion are President Taye Atskesilassie, Speaker of the House of Peoples’ Representatives Tagese Chafo, Speaker of the House Federation Agegnew Teshager, and Minister of Peace, Benalf Andualem.

Also present are Ramiz Alakbarov, the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Ethiopia, and Ambassador Bankole Adewoye, the African Union Commissioner for Political, Peace, and Security Affairs.

In his remarks at the conference, President of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia, Taye Atske-Selassie, emphasized that a fundamental reimagining of development and security paradigms is imperative in the face of the shifting global power dynamics.

To prevail over these historic shifts Africa should harness the potentials and competence of its thought-leaders and knowledge Institutions, the President underscored.

The conference focuses on governance challenges, peacebuilding efforts, promotion of Africa’s Agenda 2063, fostering continental integration as well as encouraging Pan-Africanism and sharing Ethiopia’s experience in peacebuilding initiatives.

It also serves as a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and collective action towards achieving a more peaceful and united Africa.
