Addis Ababa, March 2, 2021 (FBC) –The concluding event of the public dialogue that was held for the past three days took place at the Friendship Square today.
Senior federal and regional government officials, President Sahle-Work Zewde, diplomatic community and representatives of political parties attended the event.
Organized by the Ministry of Peace, the public dialogue was held from 27 February to 1 March 2021 under the theme “decent dialogue for a new chapter of hope.”
In her speech, the President said it was the first of its kind dialogue held without the interference of the government, but only with the involvement of people drawn from the civil society.
“The discussion would help our culture of dialogue to revive and build trust between the people and the government of Ethiopia,” the President said.
The President also highlighted the importance of instilling the spirit of the victory of Adwa, forgiveness and unity to lift the country out of the current challenges.
Minister of Peace, Muferihat Kamil, for her part said 20 million people took part in the dialogue held during the past six months to generate collective hope.
Similar dialogues will be organized in the future to enhance unity among Ethiopian, she said.
