President Sahle-Work calls on Ethiopians to strive for national allegiance, jingoism

Addis Ababa, November 20, 2022 (FBC) – The FDRE President Sahlework Zewde called on Ethiopians to strive national allegiance, devotion, and jingoism anywhere, anytime.

President Sahle-Work Zewde and former President Mulatu Teshome visited the ongoing training for senior and new diplomats at the African Leadership Excellence Academy and shared their experience and expertise.

The President said that since hard work is the key to diplomacy, a healthy and constructive relationship should be established in any situation.

She stressed that Ethiopian should strive for national devotion, allegiance, and jingoism as they serve their country.
President Sahle-Work also emphasized it is crucial to empower women in diplomatic missions through implementing inclusive work cultures.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Mekonnen, who facilitated the discussion, said that Ethiopia’s national interest should be achieved by following the principles of diplomacy, strengthening adequate human resources and appropriate structures.

Demeke said that MFA Ethiopia is working to make diplomats competent by creating a learning platform and a mild training plan, according to the Spokesperson Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The former FDRE president Mulatu Teshome, on his part, explained that the national interest should be the center of all participation.

The current generation should take serving Ethiopia as a great opportunity and work hard and serve the country and the people, he added.
