Addis Ababa, May 24, 2021 (FBC) – In her remarks on the celebration of 20th Anniversary of Federal Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, President Sahle-Work Zewde called for enhanced efforts to combat corruption.
“Corruption will wipe out us if we fail to stop it in time” the President stressed.
Corruption which is manifested in the form of favoritism has more impacts on loyal servants than briberies being made in kind and through financial frauds, the president said.
Registering the assets of public officials is mandatory, she said, calling all stakeholders to support the efforts underway to fight corruption.
She urged justice to disclose legal proceedings related to trials of individuals who are accused of corruption to the public so as to speed up the efforts to stop the problem.
