Addis Ababa, November 8, 2022 (FBC) – The FDRE President, Sahle-Work Zewde, attended the opening of the eighth African Engineers Week (AEW) and the 6th conference as it kicked off at the Ethiopian Science Museum.
The event, themed “Accelerating Sustainable Infrastructure Development in Africa Together”, is being held from November 7 to 11.
In addition to President Sahle-Work Zewde, the Minister of Finance, Ahmed Shide, the Minister of Defense, Abreham Belay, the Minister of Irrigation and Lowland Areas, Aisha Mohamed, engineers from various African countries, higher education institutions’ academics, construction sector ministers from various countries, representatives of trade unions, stakeholders from Africa and other continents are attending the event.
President of the Ethiopian Association of Civil Engineers, Yonas Ayalew, said the conference has an important role in bringing supportive and sustainable infrastructure in Africa.
The AEW plays its role to realize African Union’s 2063 goals which focus on energy sources, construction, information technology infrastructure, transportation, water and sewage disposal, and cooperation and finance issues through streamlined technology.
