Addis Ababa, October 3, 2020 (FBC) – President Sahle-Work Zewde and her delegation has arrived in Juba to attend the signing of peace agreement between the transitional government of Sudan and rebel groups, Sudanese Revolutionary Front and the Sudan Liberation Movement.
President Sahle-Work has been accorded a warm welcome from president of South Sudan, Salva Kirr Mayardit up on her arrival at Juba International Airport.
Besides, Heads of state and government of IGAD, Heads of states and governments in the region including presidents of Somalia, Djibouti and Rwanda, Mohammed Abdullahi Farmaajo, Ismail Omar Guelleh and Paul kagami, among others, have arrived in Juba to attend the singing of the peace agreement.
All the Sudanese government members, including Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sovereign Council, and Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok are now in the South Sudanese capital, Juba.
Chairperson of the African Union Commission and representatives of other international bodies are expected to attend the event.
According to Sudan Tribute, Juba will witness the signing of a peace agreement between the transitional government, the Sudanese Revolutionary Front and the Sudan Liberation Movement, led by Minni Minawi, after a year of negotiations under the auspices of South Sudanese President Salva Kiir.
