Addis Ababa, December 5, 2024 (FMC) – The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has lauded the latest economic growth registered in Ethiopia, referring it as testament to the emerging economies outshining the growth rate of developed countries.
The Russian leader made these remarks at the 15th “VTB RUSSIA CALLING! Investment Forum” which was held on December 4-5 at the World Trade Center in Moscow.
Referring to the latest IMF and World Bank data, President Vladimir Putin has claimed that the pace of growth of emerging and developing economies is two times higher than that of the so-called developed countries, which mentioned it as a two-fold difference.
In his remarks at the plenary session, the Russian President mentioned that some of the emerging economies are growing at stunning rates.
In that regard, he lauded Ethiopia’s stunning economic growth rate over the past ten years which Putin mentioned that the East African country has registered up to 120 percent in the aforementioned period.
The Russian leader said the East African nation’s recent economic growth is phenomenal and unique.
On the occasion, Putin has also spoken of a spiritual bond between his country and the continent of Africa, owing to their shared value of the idea of sovereignty.
“Africa may geographically seem like a rather distant continent, but it is spiritually close to us,” the Russian head of state relayed.
“They value their sovereignty and, relying on it, make decisions in the interests of their peoples and countries, and we believe they will continue to do so,” he added, noting that the continent is filled with brave people who value freedom as much as Russia.
