Addis Ababa, August 16, 2024 (FBC) – Preparations are finalized for hosting the first Africa Urban Forum that will be held in Addis Ababa, according to Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure.
Ethiopia will host the Africa Urban Forum 2024 from 4-6 September at the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum.
The forum will be held under the theme “Sustainable Urbanization for Africa’s Transformation: Agenda 2063”, it was learned.
Urban and Infrastructure State Minister Fanta Dejen stated that preparations for holding the forum are finalized.
Many officials and representatives of national and international institutions will participate in the continental urban forum.
According to the state minister, the forum will not only strengthen African unity but also help the continent to build modern cities.
To ensure the success of the preparation of the forum, a national and technical committee led by Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh was established, he added.
Fanta revealed that cities of other continents outside of Africa will be participating in the forum.
The forum to be held for the first time has been organized with events designed to attract the attention of Africans, the state minister said.
He further pointed out that discussions at the forum will focus on development goals aligned with Africa’s Agenda 2063 as well as various issues related to urban development and green initiative activities.
An exhibition that shares experiences of cities is organized to showcase their achievements.
He added that leaders and ministers will also hold sideline discussions, as per ENA.
