Addis Ababa, September 21, 2021 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Orthodox Church has announced that preparations are concluded to celebrate Meskel festival vibrantly across the nation.
Celebrated on the eve of Meskel with bonfires and religious chants, Demera is the real attraction of the festival.
The Church’s Patriarchate General Deputy Manager, Kesis Balay Mekonnen, in his press conference called on the faithful to strictly observe Covid-19 prevention protocols while celebrating Meskel.
Wishing a happy feast to Ethiopians, Kesis Belay has as well as urged Ethiopians to mark the festivity in the spirit of fostering peaceful coexistence and enhancing national unity.
It is to be recalled that Meskel was inscribed in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2013.
