Premier reiterates importance of safeguarding peace to ensure brighter future for generations

Addis Ababa, January 4, 2025 (FMC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has emphasized the significance of safeguarding peace in Ethiopia to ensure a brighter future for generations to come.

The Premier made this comment after visiting the Shabelley resort project site, part of the ‘Dine for Ethiopia’ initiative, in the Somali region, according to the Office of the Prime Minister.

“The Shabeely project which is part of the ‘Dine for Ethiopia’ initiative in the Somali region, covering 380 hectares, has immense potential for future expansion,” Abiy said.

He was chuffed by abundant potentials and optimism across the country, stating: “No matter which corner of our country we visit, we are met with boundless opportunities and hope.”

Premier Abiy asserted that Ethiopia is on the rise, with remarkable developments unfolding across various sectors despite occasional setbacks.

“Our collective progress depends on maintaining peace, as it is the foundation upon which sustainable growth and prosperity are built,” he emphasized, adding that safeguarding this peace is pivotal to ensure a brighter future for generations to come.

The Shabelley resort project, situated 29 kilometers from Jigjiga city and sprawling across 385 hectares, is said to be a critical component of the tourism pillar, aimed at transforming the region’s capital city and its surrounding areas into a leading tourism destination.
