Addis Ababa, October 10, 2024 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) today opened the National Coffee Exhibition and Recognition event at the National Science Museum in Addis Ababa.
In his opening remarks, Prime Minister Abiy stated that coffee is the pillar of the country’s economy, and the progress the government made in its production reflects that.
“We have accomplished the remarkable feat of producing 1 million tons, and domestic consumption has also risen significantly. Despite the many challenges we face, we continue to achieve much more in the coffee sector,” the premier noted on his social media page after the opening of the event.
He went on to extend his call to everyone involved in the coffee sector to play their part in further advancing this vital industry.
“Over the past six years, we planted 8.5 billion coffee seedlings, demonstrating our commitment to growth. Efficient logistics are essential to our coffee value chain, and value addition remains a crucial focus for us,” he said.
“Moving forward, we must dedicate ourselves to hard work and innovation to sustain and expand our successes,” the Prime Minister underlined.
