Premier arrives in Equatorial Guinea

Addis Ababa, January 9, 2020 (FBC) –Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed arrived in Equatorial Guinea last night after concluding his visit to Guinea Conakry.

In Guinea, he visited Port of Conakry and presided over the signing ceremony of agreement between the two countries to activate the partnership in the areas of agriculture, tourism, mining and energy.

He also held discussion with Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, Governor of Nigeria’s Kaduna State, and Tony Onyemaechi Elumelu, a Nigerian entrepreneur, on the investment opportunities in Ethiopia.

It is to be recalled that Guinea Republic President Alpha Conde made an official state visit to Ethiopia last year.

Cooperation agreements were signed in 2019 between the two countries, in the areas of education, health, financial management, agriculture and culture and tourism.

In Equatorial Guinea, Prime Minister Dr Abiy is expected to meet with President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo to discuss bilateral issues.

After concluding his visit to Equatorial Guinea, the Prime Minister is expected to travel to South Africa for two-day official state visit.

The visit aims to strengthen the diplomatic relations between the two countries and elevate their ties to a strategic level.

During his visit, the Prime Minister will meet with South African officials and Ethiopian nationals residing there.
