PM participates in G20 Compact with Africa summit

Addis Ababa, August 27, 2021 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed participated virtually in the G20 Compact with Africa summit convened by German Chancellor Angela Merkel this afternoon.

The summit was held under the title “Framework Conditions for Business and Investment.”

It focused on how to drive forward the framework conditions for more business and investment opportunities in compact countries, according to office of the Prime Minister.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed explained the progress of Ethiopia’s homegrown economic reforms through which macroeconomic, structural and sectoral reforms have been put into place to create a conducive investment climate.

The achievements in the past years are indications of our commitment and potential. Ethiopia is committed to continue to implement macro-financial and investment climate reforms to improve the framework for private investment in the country, the Prime Minister noted.

“Despite the tremendous challenges Ethiopia has been faced with in the domestic political environment, as well as the unprecedented effects of COVID-19, I shared at today’s G20 Compact with Africa that the government is committed to continue with its economic reforms,” he added.
