Addis Ababa, March 28, 2020 (FBC) -Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held a video conference discussion with all regional chief administrators and mayors of the two administrative cities on COVID19 prevention activities.
“All regions report preparedness with efforts underway to raise region wide awareness on prevention protocols, with challenges experienced in maintaining social distancing particularly by religious institutions,” said office of the Prime Minister.
Some of the support requests raised by regions include medical supplies and equipment, while professional medical staff shortages have also been raised in some parts.
According to the Office, the regions will continue their preparation and prevention awareness raising work.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has thanked the people for making a significant donation to help fight the spread of the virus.
“Heeding the call to contribute the national COVID19 resource mobilization initiative, the outpour of kindness and giving over the past few days is overwhelming,” he said.
“From our generous farmers who have donated more than ten thousand quintals of teff, business owners giving commercial buildings and houses for quarantine centers, individuals giving their cars, to energetic youth contributing food supplies in various amounts.”
“Your charitable act, your energy and your positive and constructive engagement in these precious times is greatly appreciated. You are demonstrating you are the true sons & daughter of Ethiopia.”
