PM extends best wishes to faithful up on Meskel festival

Addis Ababa, September 25, 2020 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has extended his best wishes to Ethiopians up on the celebration of Meskel Holiday, the found of the True Cross to be marked on September 26 and 27, 2020.

The Premier explained the exaltation of the Holy Cross as symbol of power and salvation for the faithful wishing those who believe in it a happy holiday festival.

Prosperity journey of the nation is a decisive and precious gift for Ethiopians, Abiy said, adding that the nation is demanding its sons and daughters to lift it out of poverty and bring in to a brighter future.

The premier attributed the founding of the cross to the unwavering zeal of faithful who faithfully excavated the place it was buried, stressing that nothing can be achieved without diligent efforts there by calling citizens to strive for prosperous Ethiopia.

Meskel or the Finding of the True Cross of Jesus Christ is one of the major religious and cultural festivals in Ethiopia celebrated in both indoor and outdoor events including burning of bonfire during the Demera, the vigil and observing feasts in the second day on September 27, 2020.
