Addis Ababa, December 20, 2020 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has expressed deepest gratitude to IGAD leaders for understanding and acknowledging Ethiopia’s law enforcement measures as legal and legitimate.
The premier also showed gratitude to the leaders for the commitment they have shown to support Ethiopia while undertaking law enforcement operation to restore law and order.
On the margins of the summit, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed met his Sudanese counterpart Abdalla Hamdok and discussed bilateral issues as a follow up to their last meeting in Addis Ababa.
The Premier discussed with South Sudanese Vice President Rebecca Nyandeng De Mabior Bilateral issues and the continued efforts for peace underway in South Sudan, and held talks with President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmaajo on recent regional developments and on how to strengthen cooperation among IGAD countries.
He also conferred with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on regional and bilateral issues on the margins of the IGAD Summit in Djibouti today.
While addressing the extraordinary summit of IGAD, Prime Minister Abiy underlined that the strength of stability in the region is based on cooperation for growth and development among countries.
