Addis Ababa, June 27, 2020 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has launched the construction of Jemmo – General Wingate Bust Rapid Transit today along with Deputy Mayor Engineer Takele Uma other officials.
The Bus Rapid Transit is said to have 20 Km length and draw out in to two directions connecting the city with the environs.
The BRT will have also bust stops at places in Addis Ketema, Lideta, Kirkos and Kolfe sub cities, according to the information from Mayor’s Office.
Addis Ababa has a plant to build twenty more supplementary Bust Rapid Transits across several parts of the capital, Engineer Takele said.
Takele added that expansion of mass transport services is among the measures being taken to address transportation challenges in the capital.
It is to be recalled that Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed, while inaugurating the Sheger Bakery the day before yesterday, the city has a surprise to its residents in the transportation sector.
The construction of the BRT is to be carried out by a French Contractor, it is learned.
