Addis Ababa, June 21, 2020 (FBC) – Prime Minister and Commander in chief of the Ethiopian Defense Forces, Dr. Abiy Ahmed has discussed with General Officers of the defense force on various issues today.
“Together with general officers of the National Defence Force, we held fruitful discussions on the new defense strategy and institution building activities”, the premier stated today.
On the occasion, the premier briefed general officials on the new defense strategy which is intended to bridge gaps seen in the previous one.
The strategy is developed in line with building a modern army based on local, regional and international perspectives, the Prime Minister said.
The amendment of the strategy has conducted based on basic up to date realities in the sector, as to Dr. Abiy.
The institutional building strategy has been formulated in a way helps to add an impetus to the effectiveness of the defense forces in protecting the sovereignty of the nation and upgrading Ethiopia’s acceptance at the global level.
Deputy Prime Minister, Demeke Mekonnen has also attended the discussion held between the premier and general officers of the defense forces.
